YouTube’s Custom Feeds will let viewers shape their own front page

YouTube is preparing a new way for viewers to organise recommendations around what they want to watch, with dedicated feeds for particular interests, moods or routines.

Announced on 23 September, Custom Feeds will let viewers create and save multiple feeds accessible from the platform’s homepage. Instead of relying on a single front page for every viewing session, users will be able to keep different interests in separate tabs.

    Different feeds for different moments

YouTube’s examples include a feed for relaxing with long documentaries and another for discovering DIY creators. The idea is to give viewers a more deliberate way to describe the kind of content they want.

For someone who uses the same account for tutorials, entertainment and background viewing, separate feeds could make those activities easier to organise. That is the potential benefit; how well the recommendations follow a viewer’s intent will depend on the released product.

    US first; Bangladesh timing unconfirmed

YouTube says Custom Feeds will initially be available to users in the United States across the web, mobile devices and televisions. Its announcement does not provide a Bangladesh release date.

The company also outlined expanded Ask YouTube shopping tools, including follow-up questions and organised product-video recommendations. These are separate additions to the viewing experience.

Bangladeshi viewers should therefore treat Custom Feeds as an announced feature to watch for, rather than an option confirmed to be available in their accounts today.
