A student-built drone from United International University has earned international recognition at TEKNOFEST 2026 in Türkiye, according to The Daily Star’s September 23 report.
Uro Bangladesh placed tenth globally and second in Asia with Prohori, its entry in the Rotary Wing category. The UAV competitions took place at Malatya Tulga Airport from September 8 to 13, bringing together 113 finalist teams across three categories.
The students designed Prohori to navigate and complete assigned missions with limited human control. Team captain Md Darain Khan described the aim as moving beyond a conventional remotely piloted drone towards a system capable of making mission-level decisions.
The team prepared through simulations and repeated testing in Bangladesh, with laboratory and logistical support from UIU. Its next plans include further work on autonomous flight and computer vision, while exploring practical uses for the research.
