Samsung has supplied a private 5G network for Hana Financial Group’s new headquarters in Incheon, South Korea, extending wireless access across 16 floors and thousands of employees.

Announced on 28 September, the project brings together Samsung, SK Telecom and Hana Financial. Samsung describes it as the first private 5G smart office of its kind in Korea’s financial sector.

An office network built around mobility

Employees can use compatible laptops, tablets and mobile devices to connect to internal systems while moving around the workplace. Samsung supplied the radio equipment, baseband and cloud-native core.

The deployment uses Korea’s dedicated 4.7GHz private-network spectrum. Network slicing gives different group subsidiaries separate virtual operating environments on the same physical infrastructure.

    Security claims need context

Samsung says the system includes encryption, a firewall, DDoS protection and USIM-based authentication for authorised devices and registered users. These are the supplier’s descriptions, rather than findings from an independent security assessment.

For Bangladesh’s technology and banking readers, the project offers an example of enterprise connectivity beyond consumer mobile coverage. It is a Korean deployment, with no Bangladesh installation announced in this release.

The question for any organisation considering a similar approach is practical: does the extra mobility justify the equipment, management and security requirements? A network upgrade becomes useful when it improves everyday work while meeting the institution’s own operational needs.
