Skate Story: A Cosmic Skateboarding Adventure Launching on PlayStation Plus
Introduction to Skate Story
Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Sam Eng are set to debut the thrilling new skateboarding game, Skate Story, on December 8. This celestial skating adventure will be available on the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, ensuring that PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers can enjoy it at no additional cost.
Exclusive PlayStation Plus Launch
The announcement, made in a recent PlayStation.Blog post, adds Skate Story to the launch lineup alongside its availability on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. This surprise inclusion highlights Devolver Digital’s commitment to making the game accessible to a wide audience through Sony’s gaming subscription service.
Game Overview: An Underworld Journey
Skate Story promises a unique blend of action and adventure. Players assume the role of a demon from the underworld, crafted from “glass and pain." Tasked by the devil to skate to the moon, players will navigate a surreal landscape while confronting fierce demons and helping forgotten souls. The official game description suggests an immersive experience where players aim to "skate fast to destroy vicious demons," showcasing a mix of combat and skating mechanics.
Gameplay Dynamics
The adventure progresses as players evolve from fragile beginners to seasoned skaters. One of the core aims is to uncover "The Devil’s greatest weakness: humility, perseverance, and a disgustingly sweet backside tailslide." This intriguing premise offers a creative twist to traditional skateboarding gameplay, adding layers of depth and storytelling for players to explore.
Impressive Reception and Anticipation
Skate Story has generated excitement within the gaming community. Last year, IGNor showcased the game’s engaging storyline, captivating atmosphere, and responsive skating controls, which suggests a polished product ready for launch. Additionally, the game received recognition at the 2024 Tribeca Festival, further solidifying its status as a highly anticipated title.
Looking Ahead: More PS Plus Additions
As the launch date approaches, the full list of December 2025 Game Catalog additions remains under wraps. PS Plus subscribers are encouraged to stay updated for announcements regarding the next wave of games, particularly those included in the PS Plus Essential tier for the month.
In the meantime, players can explore the exciting lineup of titles that joined PS Plus in November 2025 while preparing for the upcoming release of Skate Story.
Conclusion
With its innovative cosmic premise and engaging gameplay, Skate Story is poised to captivate skateboarding enthusiasts and casual gamers alike.
